FAQ

What area do you service?

We service Southern Lancaster County. We are not currently in Chester County.

What time should I put out my trash?

Always put your trash out the night before your regularly scheduled pickup day.

My truck doesn’t come until the afternoon, why do I have to put it out the night before?

Although our routes for 90% of the year are on a regular schedule, sometimes the unexpected happens and changes our times completely. To make sure your trash is never missed, please put it out the night before.

Do you offer recycling in my area?

We offer recycling where the township has enacted a curbside recycling ordinance in accordance with Act 101, Pennsylvania’s “Municipal Waste Planning, Recycling and Waste Reduction Act.”

We offer curbside recycling for

  • Providence Township
  • Pequea Township
  • Strasburg Township
  • Strasburg Borough
  • Quarryville Borough
  • East Lampeter Township (we currently service a small section of East Lampeter)
  • Drumore Township (Effective May, 2019: Call us for details at 717-529-1292)
Why can’t I recycle newspaper & magazines anymore?

Did you know that the minute paper goods get wet they are no longer able to be recycled? Paper can only be recycled if it is clean and dry. There is a drop-off recycling location at 850 New Holland Ave., Lancaster, PA 17601 that accepts newspaper, office paper, magazines, phone books, and books! Click HERE for more details.

Many items that aren’t supposed to go in the recycling bin have a recycling symbol on them. Why can’t I recycle those items?

The recycling symbol, also called the Mobius Loop, indicates that an object is capable of being recycled, not that the object has been recycled or will be accepted in all recycling collection systems. Sometimes this symbol is used with a percentage figure in the middle to explain that the packaging contains x% of recycled material. Many items that are not on the recycling list have the capability to be recycled, but only with other specific plastics or at specific locations. Therefore, they cannot go in the curbside recycling bin, because they are not compatible with the other plastics in the curbside bin. If you would like to check where an item can be recycled, go to earth911.com and use the search function to see if there is a drop-off near you!

Where does my trash and recycling go?

All our trucks take materials to the Lancaster County Solid Waste Management Authority. For more information, visit their website for details on our county’s advanced waste removal system. Spoiler alert! It’s awesome and super-efficient!

It’s Martin Luther King/Presidents/Columbus/Veterans/Pancake Day, why aren’t you closed?

We follow the Lancaster County Solid Waste Management Authority’s schedule, and they are only closed for these holidays. We are on the regular schedule for the rest of the year. If you are unsure about a holiday, we always have a message on our phones if we are closed, as well as our Facebook page.

What are your hours?

I’m calling you during business hours and you aren’t answering. Should I just hang up and try again?

When we say please leave a message after the beep, we mean it! As a small, family owned and operated company, we sometimes are not able to answer every call as it comes in. We appreciate your call and would love to speak with you! Leaving a message guarantees a returned phone call as soon as we are able.
